Trax Transformations

My story during COVID:

So the gym has been open for a month now, and I have come to the Warwick Healthtrax a few times this month. Ok, I’ve come every day except one, but that’s not important.

After being away for three months because of the pandemic, I admit that I was a little bit apprehensive about coming back. The first couple of days felt a little strange. But it quickly became apparent that they were doing everything possible to make the gym a safe environment for working out. There are clearly posted rules and there is sanitizing equipment throughout the building. The equipment is cleaned by the staff many times throughout the day.

I take a lot of the Group Exercise classes, and they have worked hard to strike a balance between having a safe environment and having enjoyable classes. There is an online registration system and they monitor the numbers in the classes to provide proper social distancing. Josh St.Onge, Michael Lenz, and Barb Slone have done a phenomenal job. And as always, the instructors and trainers are going above and beyond what would be expected.

It’s a strange new world; it’s not what it once was. But I find that working out at Healthtrax is a small slice of normalcy in my life. Over time, it will get closer and closer to what it was before the pandemic. It’s not perfect, but it’s clean and I feel safe working out. Next week the pool and the showers will be opening; another step back to normal. Hopefully I’ll see you all there.
