Trax Transformations

During November 2018, I met with my primary care physician for a regular follow-up. Despite years of dieting and hope, even though I had lost some weight I was still seriously overweight. He recommended the PREP program at Healthtrax. Since leaving the military in '91 I had gained, at one point, over one hundred pounds, topping out at 283. I'm diabetic, have high cholesterol and high blood pressure, had a poor self-image, and just about everything hurt. Over the period from 2008 to 2018 I had managed to shed 50 pounds but couldn't seem to get past that plateau. I decided to give the PREP program a shot and signed up in November.

At first, I found the program to be adequate to get me moving, but I quickly outpaced that circuit. I had to interrupt my 60-day program to tend to my mother's funeral, and when I returned, I decided to step it up a bit, opting to begin a 12- week training session with Josh Gomes in February 2019. One of the best decisions I've ever made. We started working together in March.

I immediately noticed a difference in my attitude. I WAS doing something. The weight started to fall off. I cut my daily calorie intake down and within 60 days had dropped 20 more pounds. Training with

Josh one hour per week and using the Healthtrax facility two other times per week (2 hours/week) got me down to my current weight of 200. I've since increased my time to 1 hour of training and four 30-45 minute visits to the gym. I'm currently on my third program with Josh and plan to renew for a fourth, soon. My BMI is now appropriate for my height/age. It used to be morbidly obese. My blood pressure is normal. My diabetes in under control. Most of the aches and pains have gone away. My physician is impressed. I'm impressed.

Don't misunderstand. This was not magic. The work is challenging. I sweat. I get out of breath. I burn calories. I push myself. Overall, this has been a resounding success for me. The staff at Healthtrax has been friendly and helpful, and Josh never fails to provide a program that challenges me without overwhelming me.
