May is the Month for your Health

May is the Month for your Health

Overall, May is Global Employee Health and Fitness Month, but (as you’ll see) there are many things to celebrate this month. And here at Healthtrax, we want to celebrate YOU!

May month for health

We are paying attention to health and fitness by promoting free workplace activities offered for those who don’t get as much appreciation as they should, by dedicating each week of May to a new group of people. We at Healthtrax believe in fit families for life, so everyone can benefit from global health and fitness month, no matter their age or occupation.

national nurses week

National Nurses Week

To start off this jam-packed fitness month, we want to wish everyone a happy nurses week! During the week of May 6th- May 12th, we would like to thank nurses for the difference they make every day and invite them to work out for free this week. Thanks to these special warriors, the ones who are sick can get the help they need as soon as they need it. Even though we know nurses spend their days on their feet running from patient to patient, exercise can still add benefits. Fitness is all about keeping one strong, so nurses are able to do their every day tasks that much easier, while also relieving any stress dragged on throughout the day. If you are work in the nursing profession, stop in between May 6-12th to celebrate you.

National Hospital Week

While the second week of May is dedicated to Nurses, the third week is reserved for national hospital week, and is aimed at all hospital employees. During this month of global employee fitness, we only see fit to celebrate individuals who celebrate healthy living every day. Hospital employees - physicians, nurses, therapists, engineers, food service workers, volunteers, administrators and so many more - are invited to work out for free this week, May 12-18, as a thank-you for their desire to help every day. Our hope is that this group can take some time to focus on their own health for a change. If this applies to you, celebrate all you do by visiting any of our locations for free!

national women's health week

National Women’s Health Week

Following on the same week above, starting on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 12th), we will also be celebrating National Women’s Health Week. Our goal is to remind women to make themselves and their health a priority and build positive healthy habits for a lifetime. Nearly 2 out of 3 women in the U.S. die from chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, which could be avoided through clean eating and exercise. With health tips and workouts aimed for women, Healthtrax is opening our locations free for women during this week. If you’re a woman who wants to take charge of your own health, count yourself in!

National Senior Health & Fitness Day

On May 29th, we celebrate seniors and invite them to workout for free for 3 days. Seniors are the backbone to our country and should be appreciated for all they have contributed over the years. That being said, we want to promote active aging to stay healthy and fit so our senior population can continue leading us by their example. Exercising does not need to be a strenuous effort, in fact there are multiple workouts designed for our older generation, such as water exercises like buoyancy and whole-body conditioning. Heart strengthening practices are also just as important for this age group, one of these tips being to stand (for those who can) more throughout their day to prevent future heart problems. The Senior Health and Fitness Day is always held on the last Wednesday in May and is the nation’s largest annual health and wellness event for older adults. Young at heart? Join us on May 29th and jump-start your fitness goals!

During this month of celebrating employees and overall health and fitness, there are countless ways to get moving. Our hope is that not only the groups we are celebrating become more active, but that we inspire all members of fit families to do so. Contact Healthtrax today and let’s help get you started on a health journey this month.
